While Li's practice is rooted in classical technique, the paintings are not attempts to replicate the visible world. Instead, they explore the space between perception and imagination. Elements of reality, like figures, architecture, and landscapes - are reorganized and recontextualized into symbolic environments that reflect an inner process of questioning, reflection, and transformation.
